Spring is here / Catching up! (Part1)

Finally updating my blog! I have been involved in so many awesome things this past year and I can’t wait to share everything with you. I’m going to post a majority of what I can on this post and cover the rest next post. The content in my blog posts are usually in this order – NEWS / CURRENT PROJECTS / UPCOMING PROJECTS / MISCELLANEOUS / CURRENT MUSIC.

Cool news! NBC’s Little Big Shots is planning to have some amazingly talented little Houstonians performing for the show and they wanted to use some of my work to represent our city for their segment. 😀 Broadcast day is this year but I’ll be sure to post info when it becomes available!

My murals from the Silos made an appearance on ESPN! Video BELOW! (volume warning!)

NOT ALL MURALS LAST FOREVER

Not all murals last forever. My Houston Zoo and JW Marriott murals are going to be coming down soon. Its very sad to see mural come down but sometimes it happens. I have seen so many selfies and photoshoots shot in front of these murals throughout the years. Seeing people having such a great time in front of my work makes it all worth it.

Video of the making of the Zoo mural below!

I had lots of fun creating this mural for Rice Village. The whole process was great and everyone at Rice Village were awesome!
I was honored when they asked me to create a mural and add to the already going public art on the RV grounds.

This mural was especially a challenging due to the our crazy Houston weather. During the painting process, Houston experienced two freezes and many days of heavy rain.
I think it was the first time I painted during a freeze. Probably my last.

I love how the image and colors came out. Lots of fun!

The mural received a good amount of press which I am still gathering. I will post next time. ๐Ÿ™‚

I will be having a workshop at Rice University December 2nd, 2016.

“The Moody Center is coming to you this semester with a series of pop-up art events because we know that side of campus (the distant 10 minutes away) requires a lot of effort to get to. So instead, we’ll be taking over the JuiceBOX mobile grid units in front of South Servery to give the student body a taste of what the Moody Center will have to offer once it opens next semester.

PART II: Graffiti, Paint, & Film:
– Free Crave Cupcakes and hor d’oeuvres!
– Graffiti workshop with Michael C. Rodriguez => http://michael-rodriguez.com/blog/

Lets just pretend its still July

I’m very behind on posts so lets just pretend its still July. ๐Ÿ™‚

I finally got over bronchitis four weeks ago. I can’t remember ever being that sick in a long time. During my first week, I woke up one morning suffocating, and choking uncontrollably and then fell out of bed onto the floor. Thankfully, I was able to barely inhale some air after constantly hitting my chest with my fist.
It was a scary situation and had to go to the doctor asap. I was put on an inhaler and a bunch of other medication. I’m glad its finally over.

It was a long 4 weeks but I think the most positive part was hanging out with my pup, Mops. He didn’t leave my side the whole time while I was sick. As soon as I felt better, I started taking him to the park almost all day, everyday. The only problem with Mops and the park is that as soon as he sees a female, he has to run to them to say hello. Maybe he’s just trying to tell me something.

I really enjoying designing and making art pretty much every free second I have, but recently I realized that I haven’t been out in months again. I think I need to take it easy and try to have some sort of life this winter. Usually when I try to take a break I automatic feel like I’m wasting time and I could be making something! I’m sure the cold weather/upcoming work schedule will not help either. I’m starting a list of important projects of what my break needs to entail.

I actually have a super long list of artists/models that want to collaborate, so I think that is something I will focus on. Below is one of my FAVORITE colab peices I made with my friends/favorite HOU artists: ACK!, ANVILLE, EYESORE, ERIC CASTORENA, & my sis, MOLLY CLARK.

I just recently found a stack of test prints which I’m trying to give away!
I wish there was a way to give everyone something. I’ll figure out something…

I am finally going to open up my web store. Its about time!
I have a sketchbook full of ideas/designs that I have been adding to for the past 2 years.
I’m very excited and I will post updates on here once the wheels start moving!

THE MAKING OF THE HOUSTON ZOO GORILLA MURAL

I’m glad that I was able to put this video together before it was too late. This mural was painted on heavy textured brick with little paint brushes. It was a challenge!

POP SHOP HOUSTON FESTIVAL INSTALLATIONS 2015
pops2015I had the best time at Popshop Houston Fest this year. I designed the poster and very happy with the outcome. I also live-painted for the first time.
I don’t know how I feel about live-painting at the moment. I realized I paint slower than I thought. The highlight was receiving my Makers Award for ‘Best Muralist”.
I finally put it in my studio. Thanks PopShop!
